Is it OK to separate magnet targets on to different layers?

Sometimes my torsos in particular get very complex, so I separate more assets into symbols on it in order to animate it as best as I can. (For example lets say we have a torso with two arms, two legs, two collar pieces, a knot for a tie and a head, meaning a total of 8 magnet targets in the torso)  But having all the magnet targets on one layer and being all the same color can be a little over whelming and hard to keep track of especially if some start to overlap on their center markers. Is it ok to make more magnet target layers dedicated to each respective piece and also change their outline color? If so what is the recommended way of doing this?

(I tried to do this but I am not sure if this is an ok/safe way to do it but... I used the freestyle rigging tool to rig and create a magnet target for one piece (lets say the upper arm near), then after I'd rig another part of the body (lets say upper arm far), then I'd hop into the symbol see the magnet target layer (lets call it MT 1) and duplicate MT1's layer and make MT2 layer. Both would still be labeled MagnetTargets and be guided. I'd delete a magnet target on each layer so that I'd only have two magnet targets in the proper places but the magnet targets have their own respective layers. After I do that I would make a folder to label what that magnet target is for. And lastly I'd change the outline color of the magnet target to make it different from the others just in case they overlapped.) Hopefully the image in the link helps illustrate what I was trying to do! Just wondering if this would be an ok way of doing things!

Hello Stasia!

Yes, what you have done is perfectly fine.

You could rig the whole character with the FreeStyle Rigging tool, then distribute all the MTs to layers.
Then rename those layers to MagnetTargets. As long as the layers are called MagnetTargets all will work.

If you need, you can also tween the Magnet Targets to match your symbol's content.

And also, you can label them by entering the MT symbol, adding a layer and typing text. Just do it from frame 2 onward, and then for the individual MTs choose different frames.
If you don't need to tween them, labeling may be a simpler way to identify them, compared to separating them on layers.
