Macromedia and later Adobe have changed their install paths and logic quite frequently from version to version.
This post is supposed to bring some clarity and show in one place where users can find their .wfx, .mfx or .xml shorcut files in order to back them up, manually modify or transfer from old to new version.
Flash 8, all CS
Flash 8 and all CS versions for Windows and Mac use xml files to store shortcut data, but these have platform specific extensions.
On Windows it is .wfx and the shortcut file is inside Flash config, located under
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash CSx\en_US\Configuration\Keyboard Shortcuts
Documents and Settings is called Users in newer versions of Windows
On Mac it is a .mfx and the shortcut file is inside Flash config, located under
HD/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CSx/language/Configuration/Keyboard Shortcuts
*Flash 8 config is under Macromedia, so just look for that instead of Adobe
Flash CC, Animate CC
Flash CC, later renamed to Animate switched to .xml file extension and moved shortcuts as well as other user specific data away from config
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Animate\2015.x\Shortcuts
On Mac the path is:
HD\Users\YourUserName\Library\Preferences\Adobe\Animate\2015.x\Shortcuts
